Sargaalaya offers live display of craftsmanship providing a close look at every aspects of manufacturing for art and craft enthusiasts and even conducts workshops for people who desire to learn about it. With highly skilled artisans from over 20 traditional craft villages across the state of Kerala brought together under one roof, the village paves platform for their cultural and financial development. The art and craft products at Sargaalaya are not limited within Kerala however. The staggering examples of exceptional skills range from various states across the country. Besides getting familiar with many works of art that take expression on different materials, visitors can satisfy themselves off the quality and finish of the products and can interact with craftsmen for probing more on subjects of interest. Sargaalaya is expected to energize the traditional craft sector of Kerala and also to serve as a single source for visitors to appreciate and learn the traditional crafts and craftsmanship of Kerala.
The creative workshop series
In May 2015, Sargaalaya kick started its new venture ‘Sargaparampara’ to bring the talented artists
of India under one roof.
Sargaparampara- the series of different workshops each month is a multi-beneficiary program,
which allows space for all those who are associated with it. The artisans of each craft come together
at Sargaalaya; they work on their craft for a period of time, spend time with other artisans and
visitors here. The permanent artisans here get to know about the new trends of artisans around the
globe. Interested arts personnel can keep themselves in tough with this crafts village always through
these workshop even though they can’t be permanent artisans here.
