With its prime edition in 2011, Sargaalaya is all set for the annual crafts expo which is now rated high as the best handicrafts expo I South India.The festival comprises of, the expo of crafts by 400 artisans, craft making demonstration by 100 artisans as well as traditional art forms of India performed by talented artists. Apart from the various selected artisans of India, including, National and state award winners, group of artisans from Thailand and Afghanistan will also be a part of the annual handicrafts festival this time. Eminent organizations in the Handicrafts sector like NABARD, Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Central Silk Board, Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation (LEPAKSHI), Handicrafts Development Corporation of Kerala Ltd., Kerala State Apex Handicrafts Society Ltd. are all putting up stalls in the festival this time. Artisan Honoring Events, Crafts and Tourism Book Fair, Kerala Food Festival etc. will be a part of the festival. The festival attracted around 2 lakh visitors including international travellers last year, and this year a total above 3 lakh visitors are expected. SIACF will be inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala Shri.Pinarayi Vijayan. Hon’ble Minister for Cooperation, Tourism and Devaswom, Shri.Kadakampally Surendran will preside over the function.
